Enthusiasm for Iowa City Office
“I’m thrilled to work on projects in Iowa City, a place I’ve called home for over seven years.” shares Troy Culver, PE, Iowa City Business Unit Leader. “It will be great to work alongside my neighbors to provide benefits for future generations, including my own children and family.
“Iowa City is experiencing a lot of growth and redevelopment,” notes Don Marner, PLA, Development Business Unit Leader for Snyder & Associates. “Our new office location will help strengthen the relationships we have with existing clients in the area, grow our regional presence, and develop relationships with new clients.”
“The potential for work is amazing,” adds Tim Monson, PE, President of Shuck-Britson. “It’s an exciting and busy city. There’s always something happening.”
Located at 320 E. Prentiss Street, the new location is the second office for Shuck-Britson and the 11th for Snyder & Associates. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house event on June 26, 2018, was hosted to celebrate this important milestone as both firms settle into the Iowa City community.
Bringing together Snyder & Associates civil engineering, planning, and design expertise with Shuck-Britson’s structural engineering specialization under one roof is essential to the goals of both firms. Key hires for the new office include Landscape Architect Nick Streng, PLA, and Structural Engineer, Chris Criswell, PE.
“Utilizing the comprehensive services of both firms, we believe we can improve community quality of life through diverse projects—which is what we intend to do in Iowa City,” states Marner.
A History of Shared Success
The relationship between Snyder & Associates and Shuck-Britson dates back to the 1980s.
“Dennis Snyder, the founder of Snyder & Associates, was friends with Bob Britson, one of our founding fathers,” shares Monson. “As a result, the firms did a lot of work together. Our services complement one another, so working together was a win-win situation for both firms. What we don’t offer, Snyder does and vice versa.”
In October 2008, Shuck-Britson became a wholly owned subsidiary of Snyder & Associates, further strengthening the long-standing, working relationship between the firms and allowing them to better meet their clients’ needs.
“We’ve always enjoyed collaborating with the Snyder & Associates team, so I couldn’t be more excited to see what the future holds for us both in Iowa City,” says Monson.
