Municipal Engineering is one of the primary services Snyder & Associates' provide every day for many cities. Our experience reaches beyond traditional engineering to include long-range planning, annexation, financing, development and other issues related to municipal government.
Our municipal engineering extends beyond day-to-day advice and service to project engineering. With municipal clients, most projects begin with long range capital planning. During this stage, we help communities develop projects, priorities and financing.
Our firm handles most projects from initial planning, through design and bid letting, to construction administration and observation.
Snyder & Associates also provides on-going services to other agencies and clients including Iowa Department of Transportation, Iowa Department of Corrections, Iowa General Services Administration, Iowa State University, Des Moines Area Community College, multiple county governments and agencies, and private clients including industries, commercial and residential developers. We work with many elected boards and councils, management staff and owners. Our success in working with various agencies and clients comes from our professional approach and from partnering with clients to turn ideas into reality.

Urban Design Standards & Specifications
Since 1990, Snyder & Associates has been involved in the development of the "Urban Standard Specifications for Public Improvements" and the "Urban Design Standards for Public Improvements" manuals. These widely known, 400-page documents are used by 35 local jurisdictions (cities, counties and waterworks) as their design and specifications standards for public improvements. These manuals establish guidelines for properly designing and constructing high quality public improvement projects that are safe and cost effective for the public, who uses and finances the improvements.
Grants & Funding
Our firm has assisted many cities with applying for, securing and administering various grants, loans and other funding sources. We have been very successful in securing funding for major projects and have also facilitated innovative funding partnerships between governmental agencies and private development.
We have assisted cities in applying for, securing and administering Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Grants, State Revolving Loan Funds (SRF), Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), Surface Transportation Program (STP) Funds, Revitalize Iowa's Sound Economy (RISE) Grants, REAP Grants, LHAP Grants, Special Assessments, and Tax Incremental Financing (TIF). |
