Storm Water System Master Planning
Snyder & Associates is highly experienced in all aspects of storm water system planning. Our master planning studies review storm water basin hydrology and hydraulics, storm water system alternatives, FEMA Flood Insurance Study impacts, and storm water detention requirements. In addition, Snyder & Associates offers in-depth knowledge of the Environmental Protection Agency's NPDES Phase II Storm Water Regulations Planning studies. We’ve completed storm water planning for drainage basins consisting of several square miles to localized site plans.
Flood Studies
Snyder & Associates provides flood studies and flood mitigation alternatives to municipal and institutional clients. Our firm works closely with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, FEMA, USGS, and US Army Corps of Engineers to complete hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and then develop alternatives based on the analyses. We’ve developed cost/benefit ratios to evaluate and compare flood control levees, flood gates, building flood proofing, and site grading as potential property damage and life-saving alternatives.
Storm Water Funding
We excel in pursuing a wide variety of funding options for storm water improvements. Our up-to-date list of federal, state, and local funding sources allows us to quickly identify potential funding sources for projects. We also work with cities on storm water improvement program including assistance in setting up storm water utilities. This work has involved initial setup cost analysis, administrative needs and billing database creation.
Storm Water System Design
Snyder & Associates excels in designing and constructing practical, feasible, and community-supported storm water system improvements. In-depth coordination with property owners, governmental agencies, and clients assures the final result will meet all parties’ expectations. We use state-of-the-art CADD workstations and engineering software to analyze a wide range of storm water-related issues. Special software for modeling storm water collection and conveyance systems includes, XP-SWMM, NRCS SITES, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Haestad Pondpack, HEC-1, and DAMBRK..
