Ground recently broke on The Edge at Gray’s Landing – a 90 unit workforce housing development in downtown Des Moines. The $16 million project is expected to be complete in late 2016.
The Edge at Gray’s Landing is one portion of the multi-phase Gray’s Landing development by Sherman Associates which also includes The Holiday Inn Express currently under construction, and several other upcoming developments including The Nexus, a 142 unit luxury apartment building, and a 70,000 square foot office building.
When construction is complete, The Edge will be a four-story building with enclosed parking. According to Will Anderson, project manager for the Gray’s Landing development at Sherman Associates, the project is unique because it’s new construction in an urban area with a high concentration of amenities within the Gray’s Landing Development.
“Its proximity to downtown, the river, and lakes allows us to bring a completely new mix of area amenities, from retail to transportation, that today’s renter desires. This location also has amazing skylines views.”
The project will meet Iowa Green Streets program standards. It will incorporate innovative stormwater management techniques, including rainwater harvest and reuse.
