Kwik Trip Store Development Adds Convenience to Business Park

Busy Madison Business District Targeted for Commercial Expansion

Stop by the Kwik Trip location on American Parkway in Madison, Wisconsin, and you’ll quickly realize you’re visiting more than just another convenience store.

A spacious outdoor seating area provides patrons with a comfortable place for lunch or a quick rest.

Sure you’ll be able to fuel up your car and indulge in your favorite snacks and beverages. But the pleasant outdoor setting at this location was created to provide a brief respite from the bustling world around it, while simultaneously blending seamlessly with the surrounding urban landscape. Kwik Trip retained Snyder & Associates to develop the site plan for this new location. Situated along a busy thoroughfare that’s actively being marketed for development by American Family Insurance, this store represents the first Kwik Trip site providing gas sales in the City of Madison in many years. Our team was tasked with creating an environment that met the discerning criteria of both the city and the American Family development board. Because this site is located in a busy business district, the design team needed to not only provide adequate parking but also accommodations for substantial foot traffic. To that end, this walkable destination has an outdoor “picnic” area with comfortable, all-weather seating. Extensive pedestrian walkways allow for multi-modal accommodations and are integrated with the local sidewalk network. The strategic use of attractive landscaping helps to mask traffic noise, enhance the site, and provide aesthetic balance.

Numerous Services Streamlines Site Design Process

During the design process, our team recognized the need for enhanced stormwater mitigation efforts to satisfy local requirements. To meet these requirements, bio-retention basins were utilized along the south and east edges of the property to allow for stormwater detention and

the use of native vegetation and pollinators to assist with stormwater management. The Snyder & Associates team not only provided site development for this project but also the required survey work which was performed by our in-house survey crew. Close coordination with all utility providers in the area ensured a smooth construction process. Additionally, our team worked with the American Family development group and the City of Madison to approve the site entrances and exits for the location. With over 500 stores, Kwik Trip convenience stores have operated in the Midwest for over 55 years. Our team has been instrumental in helping this growing company maximize its site development efforts for many years. The professionals at Snyder & Associates have extensive experience working with commercial and residential developers nationwide and can provide the survey, analysis, and planning services necessary for development projects.
