Outlets of Des Moines & Shoppes at Prairie Crossing

Snyder & Associates developed site concepts for the Shoppes at Prairie Crossing, a major 230-acre commercial and retail development at the intersection of Highway 65 and Interstate 80 in northwest Altoona, Iowa. Working with the developer, Heart of America Group, and the City of Altoona, our design team prepared an infrastructure plan to address public utility needs, transportation, and access control, along with environmental and storm sewer management needs. Our team also provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services for the Outlets of Des Moines located just south of the Bass Pro Shops retail store. This 300,000-square-foot, open-air retail outlet has space for over 65 stores and restaurants.

Expansion Study for Growing Community Leads to Retail & Residential Development: Sun Prairie, WI

With a population that has more than doubled over the past 30 years, Sun Prairie is one of the fastest-growing cities in Wisconsin. The city commissioned an expansion study that would become known as the Westside Neighborhood Plan. It was created to guide future development of the land surrounding the new US Highway 151 and Grand Avenue interchange. Snyder & Associates is proud to have provided extensive land survey, site development, stormwater planning, and numerous other services for multiple projects within the boundaries of the Westside Neighborhood Plan.

Bold Renovations Prepare Hilldale Shopping Center for Shifting Consumer Preferences

Hilldale Shopping Center has served as a central retail destination for shoppers in Madison and the surrounding area for decades. Numerous site expansions and renovations have taken place, as well as a few changes in ownership. The present owners, Massachusetts-based WS Development, have implemented some of the boldest renovation efforts to date. They enlisted Snyder & Associates to reconfigure 55,000 square feet of retail space on the shopping center’s south end to build an outdoor courtyard, create store entrances that open to the street, and provide more visibility for the businesses in the shopping center. Converting the fully-enclosed mall to an open-air format was viewed as the right strategy to attract more shoppers and enhance the retail experience.
