Supporting Premier Community Athletics Destination
Snyder & Associates has partnered with the City of Ankeny over the years to help shape, improve, and expand Prairie Ridge Sports Complex, one of the community’s premier recreation destinations. Located on 124 acres, the complex has grown since its inception in 2000 into a multi-use athletic facility serving local leagues, tournaments, and community events. Through ongoing site design and civil engineering services, our team has helped the City enhance the complex’s function, capacity, and long-term performance while supporting the recreational needs of a growing community.
A Complex Designed to Grow with the Community
Prairie Ridge Sports Complex includes baseball and softball fields, soccer fields, football fields, tennis courts, trails, lighting, and parking lots integrated around a linear pond system that supports site drainage and stormwater management.
Because the complex has expanded in multiple phases, Snyder & Associates has remained involved throughout its development. Our work has supported both the site’s original framework and the ongoing improvements needed to keep pace with community demand. This long-term relationship has enabled our team to understand the facility’s operational needs and to provide solutions aligned with the City’s goals for recreation, access, safety, and maintenance.
Multi-Phase Improvements Over Time
Snyder & Associates’ involvement began with initial design for grading and the stormwater pond system, helping establish the infrastructure needed to support long-term development. Since then, our team has contributed to a variety of upgrades and enhancements across the complex.
These improvements have included ballfield lighting upgrades, parking lot expansions, pavement reconstruction, field reconstruction, and the addition of new fields and facilities. More recent work has included improvements to the Little League fields, new batting cages, reconstruction of the tennis courts, and additional parking and pavement improvements.
Comprehensive Planning and Design Services
In support of Prairie Ridge Sports Complex, Snyder & Associates has provided parks master planning, land use and recreation analysis, budgetary cost estimating, public graphic services, landscape architecture, and GIS inventory and mapping.
By combining technical site design expertise with broader planning services, our team has helped the City evaluate needs, prioritize improvements, and communicate a long-term vision for the complex. This integrated approach has been especially valuable for a facility that has evolved and requires coordination between infrastructure, amenities, and user experience.
